Crystal Palace Bowmen

About Us

The origins of the club are a bit vague but as far as we can tell the club was founded in 1954/5 and we have been at the Old Dunstonian's Ground since about 1970 and enjoy the facilities there. - See History for a detailed description of the club's past.

The club has hosted the London Championships in the past and hosts one of the first record status and rose award tournaments each year (details on the events page). We also shoot in winter postal leagues.

We have archers of all ages and using a variety of bow styles (recurve, compound, long bow and Syrian). We have decided that we can all miss what ever bow type we use! Some of the club are County standard archers and others shoot just for fun.. and that is the important part of archery... enjoying it.

We shoot every Sunday (weather permitting) and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the summer. In winter we shoot on Sunday and indoors on Tuesday evenings. Full members of the club can shoot whenever they wish subject to the field being clear.

We have a number of coaches (all of whom are ArcheryGB qualified and police checked to allow us to work with children). Coaching is available on request or by personal arrangement with a coach. Normally this is on Tuesday evenings but can be at other times by arrangement.

We hold a stock of equipment for the use of beginners and for improving archers to try out.

The club is a member of the ruling body of archery ArcheryGB (also known as GNAS or The Grand National Archery Society), The Southern Counties Archery Society and The Kent Archery Association. As members of ArcheryGB we are fully insured under their scheme.

Do feel free to come down to the range when we are shooting and meet with us.
